Conferences Springhill Medical Center presents “Diabetic Eye Disease – What to do” Charles Salisbury, M.D. Thursday, June 9th from Noon - 3:30 p.m. To ensure seating or for more information call 476-4744. The March 1, 2011, program in Montgomery was a huge success. Over 200 attended, and we received many favorable comments. The Baptist South staff were please, and we may repeat this educational and screening program in Montgomery next year .See pictures of the group attending.
Community Services for Vision Rehabilitation has co-sponsored several conferences. Our last educational program, Nov. 4 2010, at Orange Beach, was a well-attended and appreciated event. It was held at the Adult Activities Center, in cooperation with the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores Lions Clubs and Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola. There were 90 attendees, and there were many questions and comments. We appreciate the opportunity to participate with the Sacred Heart Hospital and the Lions Clubs, and especially having Debra Alonso as our moderator. We thank John Myers, M.D. for his excellent talk, and Robin Nelson and Linda Zigler of the Lions Clubs.
The R+R: Retina and Rehabilitation conference was held in March 2008. The event was co-sponsored by the EyeSight Foundation of Alabama and was held at the Marriot Grand Hotel in Point Clear AL.
Speakers at the conference included Cynthia Toth, M.D., of Duke University Eye Center; Dawn DeCarlo, O.D. of University of Alabama at Birmingham; and Linda Goodwin, O.T.R. /L. also of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After the conference concluded, an afternoon sail on Mobile Bay was made available at no charge to participants. Education
We have an on-going series of lectures, and are available for talks regarding vision loss at service clubs, support groups, and to any interested organizations.
